Dental Implants

Dental implant-based restorations are designed to offer replacement teeth that are virtually exactly like natural teeth in appearance and function. Using dental implants, people with missing teeth can regain the ability to smile and eat with ease and comfort. An implant is a titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone at the site of a missing tooth. The metal fuses to the jawbone using a process known as osseointegration and becomes a part of the oral structure. Prosthetic teeth can be attached to the top of the implant to create a permanent restoration.

Dental implants are the restoration-of-choice for many patients. An evaluation in our office will help us determine if you are an ideal candidate for implants. You must have enough jawbone density to be able to successfully support an implant. If you have bone deterioration, bone grafting may solve the issue.

Procedure for Installing Dental Implants

Dental implants are anchored into the jawbone using a surgical procedure. The implants which are made of titanium have the ability to fuse with the jawbone over time. Once the implant is placed in the jawbone, small posts are attached to the implant. These protrude through the gums and become stable anchors for the artificial teeth to be placed on.
