Do you desire straight, perfectly aligned teeth, but are put off by the look of metal wires and brackets? Invisalign might be the perfect solution for you. Invisalign can address a wide variety of orthodontic problems including teeth that are crooked, overcrowded or gapped, and even bite issues.
Invisalign is a set of clear aligners made up of smooth plastic trays that you have to wear over your teeth so that their position and alignment can be corrected. These aligners are removable and need to be replaced every two weeks until the treatment is completed. It is a preferred form of treatment for many people since there are no unsightly metal brackets and wires.
When you visit our office for a consultation, we will first evaluate your teeth to understand if you are a suitable candidate for Invisalign treatment. Once that has been determined, we will take 3D impressions of your teeth to prepare your set of custom aligners. To ensure that the treatment progresses as planned, it is recommended that you wear your aligners as prescribed, at least 20-22 hours per day. They will need to be replaced by the next set in the series approximately every two weeks. The aligners work by applying slight force to gradually shift your teeth into the correct position.
Advantages of using Invisalign
- Invisalign aligners are clear and are therefore barely visible when worn.
- Invisalign aligners do not have any sharp or protruding edges that could cause damage to the soft tissues inside your mouth.
- Invisalign aligners do not trap food particles because they are removed to eat.
- Brush and floss normally as aligners are removable.
- No food restrictions.
